Vozelu

Can one app cover your Spanish practice?

With one main app, Spanish practice can be easier to organise. Whether it is enough for your routine depends on what is in it and what you want to do. What matters is the work you cover in your week.

Start by examining an ordinary week. Are you learning useful words, revisiting them, understanding connected Spanish and producing some of your own? Are you practising the conversations or writing that matter to you?

Different tools organise the work differently

In a course you follow a sequence. With a configurable review tool you control what goes into practice. With a reading tool you work with texts. Some products have several of these in one.

The differences are worth describing accurately:

  • Duolingo has a structured course with varied exercises. In its published course update, there is Spanish content up to B2. B2 is the level of the content. You still need to assess your proficiency by what you can understand and produce.
  • In Anki you can use word pairs, sentences, audio and typed answers. Its note types have more than one exercise format. What you practise depends on the material and cards you choose or create.
  • Language Transfer has guided audio courses in which you think through answers. There is production practice in it. In its own guidance, learners are also encouraged to keep using the language outside the course.

Those descriptions are about features and format. They are not a ranking of learning outcomes.

What Vozelu brings together

In Vozelu you have vocabulary practice with reading, listening, grammar and dialogues. In early exercises you recall Spanish words from their meanings. In later exercises there are sentence gaps, audio and whole sentences. You submit your answer before seeing the correction.

In reviews the words come up again on a schedule set from your answers. In the dialogues you play one of the people in a short conversation and say your lines out loud or type them. In reading there are longer passages with vocabulary help, and in grammar explanations you can check a difficult form. The relationship between these parts, and the limits of the evidence behind the design, are on the method page.

A learner who wants regular recall practice alongside context can use this as the main structure. It is no substitute for responding to another person in a conversation, or for detailed feedback on every kind of writing.

Add something only when it fills a gap

If you are already reading comfortably in Vozelu but want to follow a particular podcast, the next addition may be that podcast rather than another course. If you cannot find words during conversation, keep useful recall practice and add opportunities to speak.

If you already use your current app well for one job, you do not need to replace it to make the rest of the routine coherent. Equally, if you keep several apps because each has a streak, you can end up with little time for the Spanish you meant to use.

Choose one place to begin your regular practice. Add material or help for a specific need. Judge the arrangement by the work you can do with it and whether you can sustain it.
