Where sentir breaks the pattern

  • siento, sientes, siente, sienten. The stem becomes sient- where it is stressed. In sentimos and sentís the stress moves to the ending and the stem stays sent-. The present subjunctive does the same: sienta, sientas.
  • sintió, sintieron. In the preterite, the e of the stem becomes i in the él and ellos forms: sintió, sintieron. So does the whole imperfect subjunctive: sintiera. The present subjunctive has sintamos, sintáis. The gerund is sintiendo.

Vos and vosotros
