Where hacer breaks the pattern

  • hago. The yo form of the present ends in -go. The present subjunctive is built on it: haga, hagas, hagamos.
  • hice. The preterite has its own stem, hic-, and no written accent on hice or hizo. hizo is written with z to keep the sound. The imperfect subjunctive is built on it: hiciera.
  • haré. The future and conditional use har- in place of hacer-.
  • haz. The tú command is one syllable.
  • hecho. The past participle is irregular: he hecho, había hecho.

Vos and vosotros

vos hacés, hacéArgentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and much of Central America. The other tenses use the tú form.
vosotros hacéis, hacedSpain. Latin America says ustedes hacen.
